A Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) uses touch probes that can measure thousands of points on a part. With this enormous pool of data, our inspection software system reviews the results and draws comparisons from the model to see if the part is within given tolerance.
The O-Inspect (Optical) is slightly different from your standard CMM in that it uses a variable power lens and backlighting that provides high-contrast images necessary for precise results. Extremely different shapes, textures and surface colors can be illuminated so that different angles of incidence can be realized, clearly accentuating edges. Much like the traditional CMM, the O-Inspect can use touch points as well but shines when used for its optical capabilities.
